"Sacred Survivance" is an archival giclee print on paper of an oil painting on stretched canvas.  This painting was created while at Caldera artist residency outside of Sisters, Oregon in the Cascade mountain range. I was thinking about the connection Indigenous people around the world have for their sacred Mountains, Y'ay'Na, across the world. Hawaiians are protecting their Mauna Loa on the big island from a giant telescope proposal. Dine runners are protecting their sacred mountains from desecration for a ski resort. This fight never ends and I wanted to capture the essence of sacred mountains and our universal connections as human beings in reverence with mother earth.
